Northwest Austin’s Great Hills neighborhood is located on the northwest corner of the Highway 183 and Loop 360 intersection, less than 20 minutes from Downtown. This peaceful, lush community is conveniently located near the Arboretum, an open-air retail center offering a wide variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.

At the heart of the neighborhood is the Great Hills Country Club, featuring tennis courts, a swimming pool, and an 18-hole golf course built in 1971 by PGA legend Don January and architect Billy Martindale.

This family-friendly community was primarily built in the late 1970’s and 80’s, so the majority of homes are on spacious lots with mature trees. The rolling hills and scenic views make the wide neighborhood roads attractive to runners, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Houses in the Great Hills neighborhood come in a variety of architectural styles, from colonial to modern. Prices in the area range from the mid-$300,000’s for older homes up to the mid-$900,000 for the larger, more modern homes.

Balcones Woods is a charming neighborhood located in the 78759 zip code of Northwest Austin. Balcones Woods is well reviewed because of its strong sense of community and convenient location.

This deed-restricted subdivision is located off of Balcones Woods Drive, between Highway 183 and MoPac Expressway (Loop 1), convenient to major employers and less than five minutes away from major retail shopping areas.

It is a friendly community that has its own HOA website (http://www.balconeswoods.org/), newsletter, neighborhood directory, community garage sales, parties, and clubs. Residents have access to a commons area, complete with a club house, pool, playground, and sports courts.

The area is home to the upscale pedestrian-friendly, open-air Domain shopping mall and the popular Gateway and Arboretum areas, which offer Austinites a large variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. The land is hilly and lush, offering beautiful scenery and excellent views.
